On December 12, 2024, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced "Science and technology research program to serve the goal of achieving net zero emissions in Vietnam, code KC.16/24-30 ” (Net Zero Science and Technology Program)

TOWARDS GREEN TECHNOLOGY, REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS
This is one of the quick and timely action programs of the Ministry of Science and Technology in implementing the direction of the Party, Government, and Prime Minister in immediately forming a science and technology program. country that directly serves the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 in Vietnam.
The program will go hand in hand with other national science and technology programs that have been and are being implemented to join hands in promoting science and technology solutions, especially towards green technology and deflation technology. greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to implementing Vietnam's commitments at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP26).
After a period of research and proposals from scientists, technologists and business communities across the country according to the direction of the Party and Government, the Ministry of Science and Technology revealed the 3 main goals of the Science Program. and Net Zero technology has been identified.
Firstly, provide arguments, scientific basis and practice to propose improvement of mechanisms, policies, standards and solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of State management related to the goal of achieving the level of development. net zero emissions in Vietnam.
Second, provide a theoretical and practical basis, propose models and solutions for green, circular, low-carbon socio-economic development, human resource development with the goal of achieving sustainable development. net zero emissions in Vietnam.
Third, research, apply, decode, innovate and transfer technology, management and technical solutions, advanced science and technology in various industries and fields. Thereby, contributing to management and inventory to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; contributing to the development of green, clean, circular technology; contribute to reducing energy consumption, shifting and conversion; contributing to research, development and application of carbon capture, utilization and storage technology.
The program hopes to create breakthrough new technological solutions in industries and fields such as carbon capture and storage technology; technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; green technology, circular technology.
Along with that, we will create management and technical solutions to serve the goal of reducing emissions, moving towards green transformation, and a circular economic model in Vietnam to significantly reduce the country's emissions and improve environmental quality and biodiversity protection; promoting technology development, innovation, creating jobs in the green technology industry and improving competitiveness, contributing to the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 in Vietnam.
The Ministry of Science and Technology calls on the business community, Science and Technology organizations, scientists, and technology experts to propose scientific and technological tasks within the framework of the Science and Technology Program. Net Zero technology will be sent to the Ministry before January 10, 2025 to immediately deploy tasks in 2025.
