The offshore wind power project in Hai Phong city is expected to have a total capacity of 3,900 MW divided into 3 phases, 1,300 MW each, operating in 2029, 2035, and 2037.

This is the 3rd meeting of the Embassy of Denmark with Hai Phong city and the investor joint venture related to the offshore wind power project in Hai Phong.

Through two previous meetings, Hai Phong city has proposed to the Prime Minister to include the offshore wind power project in Hai Phong city in the national electricity development planning period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045.

On the side of the joint-venture investor, Hai Phong city proposes to actively complete relevant studies, work with service providers, and be ready to conduct surveys as soon as the survey license is granted.

The joint venture investor also wants Hai Phong city's support so that the project can be deployed soon, striving to be allowed to survey in 2023, and complete phase 1 before 2030.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho highly appreciated the investor's determination to implement the project. At the same time, he said that the project development is in line with the strategic orientation of the national energy development of Vietnam as well as Hai Phong city in terms of prioritizing exploitation and use of renewable energy sources, helping the city to solve problems. solve the problem of electricity, and meet the development requirements of the town.

Mr. Tho suggested that the joint venture investors, when researching and implementing the project, should comply with the current provisions of Vietnamese law, without affecting the navigation channel and the security and defense issues. Besides, it is recommended that the joint venture investors have specific reports on difficulties and problems.

At the same time, the Department of Industry and Trade is requested to act as the focal point and synthesize opinions of relevant departments and agencies to report to the city. On that basis, the city's leaders will give specific instructions, and consult ministries, departments, and central agencies, speeding up the project implementation procedures.
